James Chmielewski LCPC, NCC, CADC

I was born and raised in Chicago’s Logan Square community.  I attended Our Lady of Grace Elementary and St. Patrick High School. After serving as a member of the United States Navy during the first Gulf War, I earned my bachelor’s degree, with honors, in psychology, with a minor in political science, from San Diego State University in 1996.  I went on to earn my master’s degree from Governor’s State University in 2002.

Throughout my career I have had the good fortune of working the entire Chicago area, nationally (IL, IN, AR, IA, CA, WI, MN, SD, ND, ID, MT, WY) and internationally (Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, South Korea).  I have worked with a wide array of diverse clientele ranging from the U.S. Department of Defense, to private corporations, and schools; from individuals, to couples, or generations of entire families.  The common thread running through each of these wide-ranging professional experiences is that I consistently strive to assist people in creating practical problem-solving strategies, developing new perspectives and ultimately functioning and feeling better.

I am licensed by the Illinois Department of Professional Regulation and am a member of the National Board of Certified Counselors, as well as the Illinois Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Professional Certification Association.  I have also received honors for my work with adolescent males throughout the Chicago area, as well as for my work with the United States Air Force and the United States Army, both in the U.S. and abroad.

In my spare time, I enjoy participating in numerous sporting activities, music and spending time with my family and friends.  I am also very involved in Chicago's artistic community.
